Holy cow, I am so envious of your cross-country road trip. I drove from Madison to LA a few summers ago and it was so amazing. I've been fantasizing about another drive like that and have loved living vicariously through your posts! It's amazing how beautiful and varied this country's geography is! I guess that's where that song came from... "Oh beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain, for purple mountain majesties..."
Wow! I bet that was an incredible trip! The country is amazingly beautiful. Now that I've been through the south, I really want to travel through the northern states. I'm hooked! We are definitely going to plan a trip to Yellowstone soon. A day in the car doesn't seem so long to me now. :)
Yeah, we drove through Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, and Nevada on the way to California. We stayed the night in Omaha, Denver, Las Vegas, and a teensy Mormon town in Utah. It was pretty incredible.
